Individual therapy is the format that most people find beneficial because they can develop a relationship with their therapist in a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment. Contrary to what most people think therapy is usually fairly brief; research indicates that most clients spend 6 to 8 sessions in counselling. Sometimes one or two sessions can help to clarify a life situation and offer support that provides the tools and information needed. In the case of trauma or the addressing of long term patterns more sessions are needed to integrate the learning in the sessions and provide the support needed to make life changes.
My approach is practical and empowering and I have training in techniques that will accelerate the process of change. Remember that the work of therapy also happens to a great extent in between sessions when information is processed and integrated. Sometimes people come for a few sessions and then take a break and then return when they feel a need. Individual therapy can really change the quality of your life and make you feel more confident and supported.
